He reminded that the number of 141 members of the Seimas was set at a time when about 3.7 million people lived in Lithuania. Today, according to him, the country’s population is about 2.8 million, so there is no longer a need for the same number of parliamentarians to represent society.
Moreover, according to him, during that time the number of Seimas employees, for example, advisors, has even increased.
„Look at how the number of employees in the Seimas has changed from 1990 until now. What is most interesting is that these institutions also have to be automated. Computerization took place, and with computerization the number of officials increased. Now those responses and inquiries are written by artificial intelligence, but the bureaucracy still grows,“ the head of „Norfa“ marveled.
