The future of trucks is electric
Designed as a fully electric vehicle, the Semi aims to replace heavy-duty transport by combining Tesla’s expertise in batteries, powertrains, software, and manufacturing with modern logistics needs.
For fleet operators, it’s simple: charging with electricity costs less (per kilometer) than refueling with diesel, and maintenance costs for battery electric vehicles are significantly lower because there are no additional diesel processing systems, and electric powertrains are relatively simple.
Thanks to remote diagnostics, over-the-air software updates, and fewer moving parts to maintain, operators can spend less time in service centers and more time on the road.
Cost savings allow local and regional operators to achieve a positive total cost of ownership before the standard diesel vehicle fleet replacement cycle ends.

Tesla has announced the technical data for the European configuration of the Semi:

- Fast charging: Up to 60% range in 30 minutes – up to 800 kW

- ePTO (electric power take-off) – Up to 25 kW.

High-power charging is tailored for commercial use: the Semi is designed to recover a large portion of its range during short stops – using the Tesla Megacharger network, which helps maintain truck productivity and keep schedules.
The Tesla Megacharger is an ultra-fast charging network that helps drivers get back on the road faster. With up to 1.2 MW power, Megacharger chargers can replenish up to 60% of range in 30 minutes.
Multiple independent motors provide instant torque and high power at any speed, allowing drivers to safely merge into traffic, maintain traffic flow, and confidently tackle steep hills. The electric drivetrain ensures smooth and predictable power delivery – without noise, vibration, or complexity typical of traditional diesel powertrains.

Deliveries to customers in Europe are planned to start next year, in 2027.
