The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed solidarity with Germany and called for a strong response to Russia’s actions, including additional sanctions. He warned that the absence of penalties for such actions would only “increase the aggressor’s appetite.”
“Europe needs a decisive strategy to counter Russia’s threats, especially with many elections coming up next year in various European countries,” said A. Sybiha.
He added that Ukraine is ready to share its experience and contribute to ensuring Euro-Atlantic security.
“The reality is that Russia considers itself at war with Europe. Even if Europe itself does not consider that it is at war with Russia,” the minister added.

A. Sybiha stated that further support for Ukraine and increased pressure on Moscow would be “the best response” to the incident in Leipzig and suspected Russian hybrid operations in other European countries.
First time
The German government officially accused the Russian intelligence service on September 1 of attempting a drone attack at Leipzig/Halle airport in early August. This was the first time Berlin directly blamed Moscow for this incident.
According to reports, the drone was equipped with explosives and was intended to strike a cargo plane of the Ukrainian company “Antonov,” which is also used to transport military equipment. German officials said that the drone’s design, components, explosives, and fuel matched those Russia has used in other hybrid operations and the war against Ukraine.
In response to the incident, Germany announced plans to close the Russian consulate in Bonn and the Russian cultural center in Berlin. Berlin is also seeking additional sanctions, stricter restrictions on the entry of Russian citizens into the country, and increased pressure on Russia’s shadow fleet.
