Marcia was married to “Star Wars” creator George Lucas from 1969 to 1983. She edited films such as “Return of the Jedi,” “Star Wars,” “American Graffiti,” “Taxi,” “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore,” “New York, New York.”

Marcia Lucas was often called the unsung personality of “Star Wars” – the original film, which after sequels, prequels, and spin-offs became known by the subtitle “A New Hope.”

“It was incredibly complex, and we had 40,000 feet of dialogue footage where pilots say this and that. And she had to select all of it, also including all the fights,” George Lucas said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine a few months after the film became a phenomenon. “No one had ever tried to weave a real plot into an air battle, and we tried to do that.”

After divorcing George Lucas, from 1983 to 1993 she was married to Tom Rodrigues, production manager of the Skywalker Ranch production center.
