“So, am I already saying goodbye not from Sweden, but from Lithuania. <…> What happened yesterday… For the first time in my life, I experienced something like this. Even today, it’s hard to believe that I still managed to get home,” she began the story.

The woman said that before the flight she packed her things, left them at the hotel, and went for a walk around the city.
“When traveling abroad, I usually leave my documents at the hotel and do not carry them with me so I don’t lose them. It was the same this time – I packed everything in the morning and left it in the room for the whole day. When it was time to go to the airport, I took my things from the hotel and traveled to the bus, and finally to the airport. I went through check-in because there all they needed were tickets, and you can’t imagine what happened after that…,” she continued.
Upon arriving at the airport and approaching the boarding gates – she was shocked.
“I was just standing at the boarding gates – they were about to close, and my wallet was missing. It had my passport, bank cards, driver’s license, and the screw of my bracelet. Minus 1000 euros from the account, but that’s not the point. At that moment, I already realized it was lost, but my mind was spinning with thoughts about what else awaited – what else could happen next,” she said.
However, at that moment, she was most worried not about the documents or money.
“At that moment, I wasn’t even sorry about the lost documents or wallet. The only thought in my mind was – the children’s birthday is on Thursday. How will I return from Sweden to Lithuania without a passport? By ferry, or will I have to travel some other way, maybe even get into a car? There were tickets with transfers for that day, but what good are they if there is no passport? I would have had to stay at the hotel again, go to Stockholm to the embassy, and ask for a temporary travel document. I was just standing, crying, and thinking about what to do next… It is very important for me to be with the children on their birthday,” Simona said.

Still, in the end, the woman heard what she most prayed to hear in her heart and successfully boarded the plane.
“In this situation, probably everything was saved by humanity. I was just standing and crying. They asked me: ‘So where did you lose your passport?’ I answered: ‘If I knew, I would have already gone and taken it.’ I thought maybe it fell out when the handbag was turned on its side, or maybe I left it at the hotel… Then came the questions: how? who? Are you planning to return to Sweden? I answered: ‘No, I definitely do not plan to return to Sweden – I don’t want to, never. I just want to get out of there.’ A photo was enough for me – I had a photo of my identity card. And, apparently, the humanity factor worked because they just let me fly. But that feeling when they let you and suddenly you realize that all problems are reduced to a minimum – that you will only need to make new documents, buy a wallet… Then you understand that everything is still okay,” S. Lipnė continued.

The famous woman accepts this experience as an important life lesson.
“What I want to say – hope died last. I was still standing at the gates and really thought they wouldn’t let me out. I cried, already in my head I was planning scenarios on how I would have to return to the hotel, arrange everything again… I thought: God, please just let me out, because if I had to buy a new ticket, and that temporary permit… In short, for the first time in my life, I found myself in such a situation and I hope it won’t happen again. I take it as a life lesson – from now on, before leaving for the airport, I will always check if I really have my passport,” she said with a smile.
