“Some incidents were avoided, no one needed medical assistance. We can say that the march went quite calmly,” said Odeta Vaitkevičienė, a representative of the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat, to BNS on Saturday.
According to her, before the start of the march, the police detained two suspicious individuals who had pyrotechnic products and knives with them.
Several other individuals were brought to the police station during the march for various violations, information about the detentions is being clarified.
The second “Kaunas Pride” march took place in Kaunas on Saturday, aiming to support freedom of expression and oppose hatred and discrimination.
About 500 participants marched from St. Michael the Archangel Church along Laisvės Avenue and back, demanding more rights for LGBT+ people. They also expressed support for Palestine and other marginalized social groups.

The march in Kaunas was held for the second time. The first took place in 2021.
