Officers of the Šiauliai County Chief Police Commissariat detained individuals suspected of committing a criminal act in Šiauliai on July 15.

Yesterday, July 15, at about 12:20 PM, in Šiauliai, Vairo Street, a man born in 1991 was allegedly injured with a firearm and the victim’s car, a BMW X6, was damaged.
The victim received medical assistance and is currently being treated on an outpatient basis.
According to preliminary information, the act was qualified as a public order offense under Article 284 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. However, data collected during the pre-trial investigation reasonably suggest that there was an attempt on the life of the man sitting in the car.

Data collected during the investigation reasonably suggest that there was an attempt on the life of the man sitting in the BMW car.
Considering the newly clarified circumstances, the act was immediately requalified as an attempted murder under Part 1 of Article 22 and Point 7 of Part 2 of Article 129 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.
After promptly collecting significant pre-trial investigation data and identifying possible suspects, two suspects born in 1990 and 1985 were detained in Jonava at about 7:00 PM the same day. The prosecutor is currently deciding on applying to the court to impose the strictest preventive measure on the suspects – detention.
The pre-trial investigation continues, and further procedural actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
