“DROWNING NEAR THE BRIDGE
RED FLAG RAISED. WAVES – 5 POINTS.
At 14:10 near the bridge, a drowning occurred. A man swimming with an inflatable buoy was carried by the current under the bridge pillars – to the place where the tragic drowning of a Polish boy happened.
The rescuers noticed the man immediately and promptly went to the scene. The person was saved, but both he and the rescuer, upon reaching the shore, were heavily scratched by stones.
This situation once again shows how quickly the sea can become dangerous. When the red flag is raised, do not enter the water and do not risk your life or the lives of rescuers.
Be safe, act responsibly, and listen to the rescuers’ warnings.
The accident was avoided only due to the quick reaction of the rescuers. Special thanks to rescuers Juras and Oskaras,” wrote K. Pirožnikas.

Žmonės.lt reminds that on August 15, a tragic accident occurred in Palanga – a 17-year-old young man from Poland drowned in the sea. His body was found by divers near the place where he disappeared after a search.
The General Emergency Center received a report about a person drowning near the bridge in Palanga at 20:11. Initially, it was reported about a drowning man and three children, later clarified that they were minors and their father. Palanga rescuers received the information at 20:13.
Rescuers rushing to the scene transported one boy to the shore on a jet ski from the bridge pillars, the father with a girl reached the stones near the bridge on their own. Information obtained from the rescued boy indicated that his brother immediately submerged underwater and was not visible on the water surface. Palanga rescuers searched the entire accident area, but did not find the young man. Soon, firefighters, medical and police forces joined, and divers were involved in the water search.
His body was found 57 meters from the drowning site, about 3 meters deep, in a hole formed near the stones. The arriving medics confirmed his death.
