According to meteorologists, the weather on Saturday will be influenced by a southern cyclone – strong winds will blow, and in Western Lithuania more than half of the August monthly precipitation norm may fall within 24 hours, which is 40-70 mm. This corresponds to 4–7 buckets of water poured into a cubic meter.

“Due to heavy rain, water levels in rivers and lakes may rise significantly. Assess possible risks. Sometimes calm streams turn into rushing rivers that can wash away part of the road or cause other damage,” Meteo LT posts on Facebook.

Specialists recommend residents:

*Close windows and doors tightly. Collect easily movable items in yards, balconies, and other open areas. Do not leave your car near tall trees. When outdoors, do not stand under trees, near advertising boards, or power lines

*Check and clean rainwater drainage pipes and other available rainwater collection systems – water flow may be obstructed by accumulations of leaves, tree branches, or debris
