On September 2, the program will begin at the Palanga Resort Museum with director Bruno Dumont’s „Empire“. Awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, the film playfully interprets the science fiction genre. Incredible events taking place on the calm northern coast of France – the birth of a special baby, a battle between cosmic empires, and a love story – become a satirical look at the human world.

A week later, on September 9, Miguel Gomes’ „Grand Tour“ will be screened – a visual and mysterious journey connecting different times, continents, and cultures. The film invites not so much to follow a traditional plot but to dive into a cinematic journey where exoticism, memory, longing, and the human attempt to escape the inevitable intertwine.
Film hooligan Quentin Dupieux’s „Antrasis veiksmas“ on September 16 will offer a completely different movie night – full of absurdity, dark humor, and playing with the rules of cinema. The film’s characters talk about relationships, the influence of artificial intelligence, and the very boundary between actor and character, and their dialogues become a witty game where it is not always clear what is really happening in front of the camera.

For the little viewers and the whole family, director Benoît Chieux’s animated film „Sirokas and the Kingdom of Winds“ is a colorful adventure that takes you to a magical world where the wind is not only a natural element but also an important part of the story. The film invites you to use your imagination, find courage, and embark on an extraordinary journey together.
„We want „Scanorama Summer“ to be not only a series of film screenings but also an opportunity for the city and its guests to discover European cinema in a different environment. The Palanga Resort Museum provides a special atmosphere for this – here, film history meets the city’s cultural heritage and the seaside mood,“ say the representatives of „Scanorama“.

„Scanorama Summer“ aims to strengthen the tradition of European cinema in Lithuanian regions and create small film festivals in different cities. In Palanga, the project has already become part of a broader film season, and this year a diverse program is presented in the city’s spaces – from animation and documentaries to science fiction and drama.
