„We do not live closed off in our castle, we like to interact with people by opening the doors of our own home,“ she added.
Together with her mother, Princess Maria Pia, Giacinta rents out their 16th-century home to help cover the “extremely expensive” maintenance costs of the palace.
According to Giacinta, the palace is especially popular among American travelers who want to “experience royal life.”
„They choose us because they want to enjoy a royal stay and are curious to learn the history of this place and the nobility still living here, such as my mother and me,“ Giacinta told the publication. „America does not have a history and heritage of aristocracy.“
The Ruspoli family genealogy traces directly back to the Middle Ages and the time of Charlemagne, Holy Roman Emperor. The Ruspoli family amassed their wealth through connections with the Vatican, contributed to the rise of several popes, and even one saint.
In this particular palace, Emperor Napoleon III, nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, and his mother, Queen Hortense de Beauharnais of the Netherlands, lived in the third decade of the 19th century. To this day, the palace is full of artworks commissioned by this queen.

Travelers wishing to experience a royal escape can choose to stay in one of four apartments. Prices start at about 470 US dollars, including butler services and breakfast. The entire palace can be rented for exclusive use from 4700 US dollars per night, Giacinta says.
A stay at the “Ruspoli Bonaparte Residence” also includes a visit to the family’s “Castello Ruspoli” castle – a former hunting estate in the town of Cerveteri, about 50 kilometers north of Rome.
The castle was recently renovated and turned into a boutique hotel with 10 apartments. Soon it will be available for booking at prices similar to the palace. For now, exclusive cocktail parties, weddings, birthdays, and official banquets are held in the huge main hall.
„On weekends, we take guests staying here to visit Cerveteri Castle, and if they wish, they can enjoy exclusive dinners in the lodge with the best authentic dishes of this region,“ Giacinta said.
„We consider ourselves only the guardians of Palazzo Ruspoli Bonaparte. We don’t like to say we own it… Times have changed,“ she added.
