A possible drone sighting has been reported. Residents are advised to find a safe place.
The National Crisis Management Center reported that NATO fighters were also scrambled due to the possible drone.
There is a likely air threat, and it may have disrupted several flights – a WizzAir plane from Reykjavik, a Mavi Gok Airlines flight from Antalya circled around Vilnius, and a LOT flight from Warsaw near Alytus.
The first two planes successfully landed at Vilnius airport around 00:20. The third also landed.
Soon after the announcement of the likely air threat in Vilnius County, it was also declared in Kaunas County.
Finally, around 00:30, the NKVC reported that the drone was destroyed. The likely air threat was canceled.
Where was the drone shot down?
NKVC head Vilmantas Vitkauskas revealed to 15min that the drone was shot down by NATO fighters in the Alytus district, near the village of Navasiolkai.

The police are currently searching for the drone. The NKVC head could not say whether the drone fell in the fields or elsewhere.
“The police are searching. Most likely, it will be found soon,” emphasized V. Vitkauskas.
Residents are urged not to approach the downed drone.
Preliminary data indicates the drone entered Lithuanian airspace from Belarus.
Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas confirmed on his Facebook page that NATO air defense mission fighters destroyed the drone that violated Lithuanian airspace.
“Status – WHITE. Air threat canceled.
Object neutralized. Exact coordinates are known, forces activated to ensure security.
Thanks to allied pilots, the Lithuanian military, and all responsible institutions for their professional and timely response.
I ask residents to remain calm and not approach suspicious objects or debris,” he wrote.
