And his partner in this project is no coincidence. In “Star Duets,” J. Pečeliūnas will appear together with singer Gabija Sine, with whom they already share a common television history. In the “Great Choir Battle,” J. Pečeliūnas led the Panevėžys team, and G. Sine was the conductor of the Panevėžys choir. Now they will meet in a different role – not with the whole choir, but as a duo on the “Star Duets” stage.

So far, J. Pečeliūnas on television still evaluates not musical performances, but the week’s events. In “Week with Pečeliūnas,” the host selects each week the most resonant stories from politics, society, and the entertainment world and looks at them from his own perspective – with irony, parody, and humor. However, J. Pečeliūnas himself says that the show’s goal is not just to make people laugh.
“I would really like that even when some absurd situations happen in our country’s politics or everyday life, we could look at everything with a smile. Then there would be less anger in life, and the daily mood would be better,” says J. Pečeliūnas.
Although the show is prepared all week, plans on television can change even in the last hours. According to J. Pečeliūnas, sometimes it seems that the week was too calm and there is almost nothing to discuss, but as filming approaches, the news starts to chase each other.
“Sometimes it seems the week is so calm that there aren’t many news stories interesting to discuss. But as the show approaches, as if ordered, fun stories start to come – sometimes maybe not so fun. For example, Skvernelis’s barking at the collar happened practically just before starting to film the show,” says the host.
During the summer, several famous politicians and entertainment figures became the heroes of his jokes. However, despite the straightforward humor, J. Pečeliūnas says he has not yet received any angry reactions from them.
“I haven’t received a call or message yet – it seems the show’s heroes are not mad at me. Although I have received requests to read personalized horoscopes for specific people on the show,” he laughs.

When asked which of his jokes he considers the best, J. Pečeliūnas singles out the parody of the speech of the First Lady Diana Nausėdienė.
“I never try to think ‘I won’t come up with anything better,’ but today it’s probably hard to imagine creating something similar to Nausėdienė’s speech parody. That video just filmed and edited so nicely, and that really rarely happens,” says the content creator.
And the person he would like to invite to discuss the week’s news together, J. Pečeliūnas has already spotted.
“I would like to invite the show’s heroes themselves to explain the situations more broadly because often they are really too comical. If I had to pick one person with whom it would be interesting to discuss the news, I would say Daina Bosas – she would definitely say her opinion without scruples,” smiles J. Pečeliūnas.
So, having observed, commented on, and not hesitated to mock others during the summer, J. Pečeliūnas will soon find himself in the position of being evaluated. Together with G. Sine, he will become one of the nine duets competing for the sympathies of viewers and the jury in the new season of “Star Duets. New Era.”
