This last result will be recorded in the USA team’s record books – it is the most assists made by a USA team player in their debut game at the World Championship.
C. Clark was supported by Rhyne Howard and Paige Bueckers, who also scored 14 points each.

A cold shower for the hosts
Meanwhile, the tournament hosts, the Germans, fared much worse.
They lost 53:83 (13:24, 11:26, 15:15, 14:18) to the Spanish team.
The hosts shot only 29% from the field (18 out of 62), and made just 17% from three-point range (4 out of 23).
