The search was initiated after air traffic control declared an emergency when the aircraft’s signal disappeared around 4 p.m. local time (5 p.m. Lithuanian time), the Croatian police stated.

Aircraft wreckage was found in the mountains of Paklenica National Park, about 60 kilometers northeast of Zadar.
“The search for the missing ultralight aircraft ended around 10 p.m. when members of the Croatian mountain rescue service found the plane and two deceased individuals,” the police statement said.

Information about the passengers’ nationality was not disclosed.
The police are preparing to secure the incident site so that an investigation into the circumstances of the incident can be conducted early Saturday morning.
