A search for a drowned person was conducted in Nevėžis: the search so far has been fruitless.
It was reported at 12:36 that the police needed the help of firefighters and rescuers. The Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat informed that assistance was needed in Surviliškis village, Surviliškis eldership, to search for a person who drowned in the Nevėžis River.
Firefighters and rescuers who arrived at the specified location searched the river stretch from Surviliškis to Gojaus village. However, the search did not succeed in finding the person.
The search for the drowned person is planned to continue on Friday.
Audronė Luneckienė, a public relations representative of the Emergency Response Center, confirmed that no reports of a missing person have been received by the ERC in recent days, so it seems that the search is for a person who possibly drowned earlier.
The Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat reported that the search was for Danutė Buteikienė, born in 1955. The disappearance of the woman and the ongoing search were reported by “Rinkos aikštė” last May.

The police received the report of the woman’s disappearance on May 18, 2025.
At that time, it was reported that on May 17, upon arriving at the senior woman’s home in Šventybrasčio village, Kėdainiai district, she was not at home.
The police started searching for the woman, asked the public for help, but despite the search efforts, the woman has not been found to this day, so the search continues.
