The ammonia and fertilizer plant will capture 800,000 tons of CO2 per year, which accounts for about 0.5% of all annual emissions in the Netherlands, and it will be liquefied to be transported by ships to Norway. There it will be injected into an aquifer located about 2,600 meters deep under the seabed off the western coast of Norway. This is part of the “Northern Lights” project, which began implementation last year.
