The 183 cm tall point guard represented the Voluntari CSO team for the past two years, competing in the Romanian championships and the ENBL tournament.
In the international tournament, in which “Šiauliai” also competed for three seasons, the American and the Romanian team reached the strongest four twice in a row, and in the 2024–2025 season, they lifted the winner’s cup and won the MVP award.
Last season in the local league, M. Caffey averaged 10.9 points (58.6 2pt, 31.9 3pt, 76.9 FT), 2.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 36 matches, spending 23 minutes on the court.
Before his stint in Romania, the guard played in the top leagues of Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Slovakia, Finland, Greece, and Hungary.
The “Šiauliai” team has already started its cycle of control matches and in the first encounter, they defeated the Latvian champions Valmiera “Glass VIA” basketball players 117:99.
This coming Saturday, D. Songaila’s trainees will compete with the Baku “Sabah” team in Birštonas, and on September 4–5, they will participate in the Algimantas Mikšis Cup tournament in Šiauliai Arena.
