“Contact with the citizen cannot be established. No official information about the Lithuanian citizen has been received from Nepalese institutions,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BNS on Thursday.

Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of the National Crisis Management Center (NKVC), said that two Lithuanian citizens had been contacted and were safe and sound.
“Let’s remember that not only people can be missing, but perhaps the connection has not been restored, and that’s why these communication problems have arisen,” V. Vitkauskas told reporters on Thursday.
Rescue teams rushed on Thursday to search for more than 1,000 missing people on the Nepal-Tibet border, where flash floods and landslides have claimed at least 165 lives and swept away entire villages.
Nepal’s disaster management agency reported that 823 people were still missing on Thursday, including at least 579 tourists, both Nepalese and foreigners. Nepalese police reported finding 162 bodies.
On the other side of the border, Chinese state media reported that mudslides in Trisuli port in Tibet had claimed three lives, and 558 people, including 260 foreigners, were still being sought.
Among the missing foreigners were Indians, as well as people from Australia, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea, and the USA, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
Santosh Panta, a representative of the tourism office, quoted by local media outlet “Banking News”, stated that there are also Lithuanian citizens among these tourists.
