In recent years, scammers have increasingly been posing as well-known parcel delivery companies, but the fraud is not limited to fictitious SMS messages or links – sometimes you can even receive a real parcel.
An unusual and unpleasant experience was shared by a man who wished to remain anonymous on the social network “Facebook”. He received a notification about a parcel delivered to a parcel locker, although he was not expecting any order.
“I received a message that the parcel was delivered to the parcel locker, and a pickup code was provided. However, when I went to collect it, it turned out I had to pay 42 euros,” the man wrote on the social network.
This situation surprised the individual because he had not ordered any parcel that would require additional payment. Moreover, he stated that he did not know who could have sent it and why it was delivered in this way.

“I don’t know what I should do – pick up the parcel or leave it in the parcel locker,” he pondered.
A delivery method favored by scammers
According to Lukas Zadarackas, a spokesperson for Lithuanian Post, scammers exploit the delivery method called cash on delivery, where payment for the parcel is made upon collection – they send low-value or completely worthless parcels and specify a fictitious price for them.
