“There are no crowds and typical souvenir shops on every corner here, which often appear along with tourists. In the city center, it is worth visiting Skanderbeg Square. From there, you can clearly see the surrounding architecture – a mix of traditional Albanian villas and gray Soviet concrete buildings.

If you want to earn your beer mug, climb the city pyramid. From there, you get impressive views of the mountains surrounding the capital.

Also, pay attention to the so-called “pillbox” bunkers, which are abundant throughout the city. Many of them have been turned into colorful and unusual bars or cafes,” said travel journalist Cyann Fielding, who recently visited Tirana.

Albania also has the so-called “European Maldives” – the Ksamil resort. This place earned its name because of its beautiful soft sand and clear water beaches.

You can go to Ksamil beach, where you will also find the so-called Ksamil hand – stairs to a platform resembling a palm hanging over the water.

If one beach is not enough, you can also go to Lori beach or “Paradise Beach” – they are near Ksamil beach. At Lori beach, you can also rent sunbeds and umbrellas.

In the town itself, you will find plenty of bars and places to eat.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Berat’s history dates back 2400 years. The city is called the City of a Thousand Windows because of the white, box-like houses and numerous 13th-century Byzantine churches.

This city is called the “Stone City.” Visitors can explore the 13th-century citadel and the old market – a traditional trading place.

Durrës

Less than an hour from Tirana, you can reach Durrës.
