Moscow: Ukraine returned ten Russian prisoners of war

Moscow and Kyiv frequently exchange captured soldiers, and this is one of the few areas of cooperation between the warring parties.

The exchange took place in Gomel, a region of Belarus bordering both Ukraine and Russia.

“Today, a 10-for-10 prisoner of war exchange took place in Gomel. In exchange for Ukrainian prisoners of war released on August 24, the Ukrainian side handed over 10 of our soldiers to Russia,” Russian human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova announced on the Telegram platform.

On Monday, Russia released ten Ukrainian prisoners of war who had previously been considered missing.

Since February 2022, when Moscow launched its invasion, both sides have exchanged thousands of prisoners of war.
