The sung poetry concert “Marių ošas” has become a place where people who appreciate original creativity, live music, and meaningful words meet. It does not aim to impress with a huge stage or spectacular sights. The most important thing is the song, its story, and the environment in which it sounds.

“Marių ošas” is part of the event series created by the public institution “Baltas sodas”. The idea, born almost a decade ago, was simple – to create intimate evenings of original music where the performer and the listener would be as close to each other as possible, and the music would become a conversation. Over the years, the name “Ošas” has gathered a loyal community of original music listeners, and three years ago the concert series moved to the Curonian Lagoon and, with the help of good people, this idea became a reality.
The location for this concert was chosen intentionally. Sung poetry always seeks a space where the most important thing is not loudness but audibility. In Svencelė, words are not competing with city noise, and the sound of the guitar is complemented by what cannot be created in any concert hall – the roar of the lagoon waves, the wind, and the evening light. Here nature becomes not a background but a natural part of the concert.
The tradition of sung poetry has been alive in Lithuania for several decades. Generations of performers, musical decisions, and themes change, but what remains important is respect for the word. The song here begins with a thought, and the melody helps to hear it. Therefore, such concerts often become not only a musical event but also a conversation about a person, time, love, longing, or home.
This year’s “Marių ošas” will bring together creators from different generations. Guitarist, composer, and songwriter Jonas Krivickas, whose creative path is closely connected with the Lithuanian original music scene, will perform his original songs. The music of Greta Dūdytė and Aurimas Liudvinavičius will also be heard – their duo stands out with youthful enthusiasm and playfulness, and Aurimas Liudvinavičius is also a laureate of the Saulius Mykolaitis prize.

Jonas Baltokas and Daiva will also share their creativity. Jonas Baltokas is one of the long-time participants of the Lithuanian bard movement, and their joint performances stand out for their respect for the tradition of original song and Lithuanian poetic culture. The “JieDu” – Klaipėda actors Vilija and Ramūnas Šepučiai, whose music blends original song and theatricality, will tell song-stories. The concert will also feature Darius Žvirblis – founder, songwriter, and performer of the band “Atika,” whose work has held a unique place in the Lithuanian alternative music scene for more than three decades.
Although each of these creators brings a unique musical style and life experience to the stage, they are united by what is most important in sung poetry – sincerity and the belief that a good song first needs a true story.
Perhaps that is why “Marių ošas” gathers more and more listeners every year. Not because of noise or spectacle, but because of the opportunity to pause for at least one evening, listen to music under the open sky. To let the songs merge with the roar of the lagoon and feel that sometimes the strongest impressions come from silence and the roar of the lagoon, which remains after the last chord has sounded.
