G. Šečkus, who decided to continue his career elsewhere after nine years in the group, will still work until October 19, LTG announced on Wednesday.

“Thanks to Gediminas, LTG has created a system where compliance with sanctions and ensuring national security are not the responsibility of separate functions alone – it is an integral part of the entire organization’s activities,” said LTG interim head Arūnas Rumskas in a statement.
LTG representative Novilė Agnė Valančė told BNS that G. Šečkus decided to leave the group on his own initiative.
According to LTG, during G. Šečkus’s tenure, a business resilience system was created, the sanctions compliance procedure was improved, and the “Free Rail” program was developed, where railways disconnect from the Russian information system and switch to the European one.
“Together with a professional and ambitious team, we created the LTG group’s business resilience system and implemented changes that strengthened the security and preparedness of our group of companies against various types of threats,” said G. Šečkus.
As BNS wrote, after two train accidents in early May – in Jiesia near Kaunas and at Gudžiūnai station in Kėdainiai district, G. Šečkus then stated that the incident at Jiesia station could have been avoided if the railway signaling system had been operational there, urging additional funding.
