Additional relief measures have been established taking into account the difficult natural conditions that have arisen this year and aiming to ensure that farmers do not face additional administrative burdens in fulfilling support requirements due to circumstances beyond their control.

“We understand that after such a storm, the most important thing for farmers is to deal with the real consequences in the fields. Therefore, we are looking for solutions that would help adapt to the current conditions – both by extending some work deadlines and by waiving certain requirements,” says Minister of Agriculture K. Mažeika.
Winter catch crop sowing deadline – until October 1
Under the activity “Winter catch crops,” the sowing deadline for winter catch crops is extended until October 1.
Also, this year, in fields where winter catch crops are grown, the requirement to harvest the main agricultural crops does not apply.
Relief for meadow maintenance and green fallow management
For farmers who do not have farm animals on their holdings, the mowing deadline for meadows and landscape elements is extended until October 30. Previously, this deadline was extended until September 15.
For farmers who have at least 0.1 livestock units per hectare on their holdings or who are applying for additional income support for young farmers, mowing requirements do not apply at all this year.
Also, this year, the requirement to incorporate green fallow into the soil or otherwise manage it—rolling, shredding, cutting (this deadline was set until September 1)—does not apply.

Photo submission deadline – until October 30
For applicants who declared perennial meadow areas (previously unsuitable areas for support or areas in protected territories that were managed), for which photos had to be submitted via the “NMA agro” mobile app by October 1, the deadline is extended until October 30.
Regarding no-till farming requirements
The Ministry also takes into account the situation of farmers participating in the activity “No-till conservation farming technologies.”
Due to extremely waterlogged soil, deep ruts have formed in some fields during harvest and removal. In such cases, the requirement to apply no-till technologies without soil leveling may objectively be impossible to fulfill.
When faced with such a situation, before leveling the ruts and performing other necessary work, applicants should document the current condition of the fields and submit photos via the “NMA agro” mobile app. Photos should be submitted both before and after the work.
These photos would help justify that soil cultivation was necessary due to the consequences of extreme weather conditions and not due to non-compliance with requirements.
