M. Draugelienė celebrated her honorable 95th birthday at the beginning of this year.
As wrote “Trakų žemė” at the beginning of 2025, M. Draugelienė was one of the most well-known teachers in Trakai, dedicating almost 60 years to the school. She has also published six books, mostly poetry.

“Marija was one of those teachers who are unforgettable. With her dedication, warmth, and love for her students, she left a part of herself in more than one generation of Trakai students. It was especially impressive how she remembered her students in detail – their names, surnames, life stories, and even the smallest details from school life.
Even after many years, her students never became just former students to her,” wrote E. Rudelienė on Facebook about the loss.

She said she visited the teacher this January, during her beautiful 95th anniversary, and this meeting is now becoming an even more precious memory.
