We started planning the trip with tickets – and then came the first shock
The idea of the trip had been brewing for a long time, but concrete plans began to take shape quite simply – we bought tickets to Edinburgh about a month before the trip. A direct flight was one of the reasons why we chose Scotland. A round-trip ticket for one person cost 188 euros.

We decided to travel light – only with backpacks. We had already tried this way of traveling in Milan and it worked for us. So this time we left the suitcases at home. Fewer things, fewer worries at the airport, and of course, the possibility to save money.

However, as soon as we started looking for accommodation in Edinburgh, the first mild shock awaited. With only a month left before the trip, a large part of the accommodations were already booked, and the prices turned out to be much higher than we expected.
