The company “Nordic EOD” is responsible for the assembly, testing, certification, and sales of metal detectors in the European Union (EU) markets.

According to the company’s sales and development manager Vytautas Martinaitis, the new line allows assembling 5,000 detectors annually. The company expects to create up to 15 new jobs and achieve a turnover of 10 million euros.

As V. Martinaitis told BNS, “Nordic EOD” invested over 100,000 euros in the assembly line, and “major investments will still come in the future”.

“They provide us with product parts, training, instructions. We assemble it, check it, still have to complete all certification because this is just the beginning, and we organize sales. (…) We have an agreement for exclusive sales rights throughout the EU,” said V. Martinaitis.

“We are ready to offer it for testing to the military and I believe it will happen,” said the sales and development manager of “Nordic EOD”, hinting at an official proposal planned to be sent to decision-makers next week.

“One thing is to use devices that were created long ago, although they are classic and work well. Another thing is to get what is tested today, the newest and the best,” V. Martinaitis assured.

According to the company, the detectors being assembled in Lithuania are the main tool for the Ukrainian army’s deminers. The devices are based on civilian metal detectors, which “Active Alliance LLC” redesigned to adapt to war conditions.

“What is very important, and why the Ukrainians took this step, is the diversification of production to safe NATO countries. (…) We will have enough parts, we have now received the first batch and are organizing the next. We will be able to assemble here and, if necessary, send back to Ukraine,” said V. Martinaitis.

He emphasized that the metal detector has a NATO number (NSN) – a 13-digit code used to standardize military and material equipment identification in the Alliance’s supply chains.

The military did not confirm to BNS the intention to test these devices. Arturas Plokšto, advisor to the Minister of National Defence, who participated in the line opening and was quoted by the company, said that advanced explosive detection solutions could be used by the Lithuanian army.

The event on Thursday was also attended by the advisor to the Minister of Economy and Innovation Grigorijus Žukovskis, Lithuanian commercial attaché in Ukraine Tomas Matulevičius, president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Vidmantas Janulevičius, and military representatives.

Founded in 2016, “Active Alliance LLC” initially specialized in pipeline diagnostics technologies. Since Russia’s large-scale invasion in 2022, the company has shifted to producing metal detectors for humanitarian demining.

The company reports having received about 2.07 million euros in revenue and about 37 thousand euros in net profit in 2024, employing 47 workers. Compared to 2023, the company’s profit increased more than 30 times.
