Later, investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation joined them, and the parties agreed to lay down their arms to begin investigative actions.

It is known that the incident occurred at night, and in the morning law enforcement officers were still at the scene. It is noted that some Telegram channels linked this incident to the activities of the SBU and GUR, although initially the special services did not comment on what was happening.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the SBU said its agents were conducting searches at one of the addresses while investigating a terrorist act. It is stated that during the searches, their agents were allegedly attacked. According to the SBU, the attackers also blocked the passage of law enforcement officers with vehicles.

To stop the confrontation, the special unit “Alpha” was deployed. It is reported that officers used weapons, resulting in injured persons. The SBU stated that the attackers were detained.

According to the Security Service data, it was established that they belong to one of the units of the Ukrainian defense forces, but it was not officially specified which one. Their weapons and documents were confiscated.

Earlier, the SBU announced that together with the GUR, they allegedly prevented an assassination attempt on one of the leaders of the Russian opposition nationalist movement who came to Kyiv to celebrate Independence Day. A similar announcement appeared on the official GUR pages but later disappeared.

According to RBK, it concerns a possible attempt on the head of combat training of the Russian volunteer corps RDK, Stepan Kaplunov. The day before, the corps reported his kidnapping and demanded explanations from Ukrainian security forces.

Budanov Reacted

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, reacted to the shootings in Kyiv, stating that the situation is already being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“This situation is already being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office. It is important to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation, but no one has the right to kidnap military personnel with impunity, open fire on the streets of our cities, give and carry out criminal orders,” K. Budanov emphasized to the news portal “RBC-Ukraine.”
