The value of the extensive works amounts to 1.17 million euros. Construction site handover documents will be prepared soon, and actual work is expected to begin in October. Earthworks are planned for this year. Further progress will depend on weather conditions and material supply – granite import may take 3–4 months.

As announced, the main axis of the square’s renovation is the architectural idea “Bridges.” Five straight granite slab paths leading to the sculpture of poet Kristijonas Donelaitis will symbolize connections between the 18th-century heritage and the modern world, as well as experiences of different generations.
The renovation of the square will aim to maintain its connection with Klaipėda’s old town. Granite, clinker bricks, and split stone are planned to be used for the square’s surfaces.
Much attention in the project is also given to preserving the green space. All trees growing in the square will be preserved during the renovation.
The greenery will be supplemented with plants typical for the flower beds of Lithuania Minor – lilacs, jasmines, and peonies.
The square will also be adapted for people with various needs. It will have ramps, special guidance paths, and warning surfaces. This will make the space more convenient and safer for people with disabilities, visually impaired persons, parents with strollers, and other visitors.
For the convenience of city residents, new benches will be installed, lighting will be updated, and video surveillance cameras will be installed.
