The agenda of the Speaker of the Parliament includes meetings with the Minister of Social Security and Labour Inga Ruginiene, the Minister of the Interior Martynas Katelynas, the Minister of Finance Taurimas Valys, and the Minister of Education, Science and Sports Raminta Popoviene.

J. Olekas plans to discuss with the ministers the preparations for Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in their respective areas of responsibility, as well as other important issues on the agenda of the upcoming autumn session of the Seimas.
During the conversation with V. Benkunskas, most attention will be paid to the capital’s preparations for the country’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, the maintenance of public spaces and representative objects, and cooperation between the state and municipalities.

“It is important for me to constantly maintain dialogue with the Government, local authorities, and other state institutions. Only by talking, listening to each other, and seeking common solutions can we effectively address issues that matter to people,” said J. Olekas.
“The upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU will require the concerted work of all institutions, so we must prepare for it in advance,” he emphasized.
Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027.
