As the big career weekend approaches, Jessica visited LRT journalist Ramūnas Zilnys’ podcast. Here she spoke openly not only about preparing for upcoming performances but also revealed the sensitive, very personal story behind the title of her new album.

When R. Zilnys asked if the album was named “Liepa” simply because it was released in this summer month, the artist smiled and revealed that there is a much deeper meaning behind this word.

“Liepa is my sister,” the singer revealed on Ramūnas Zilnys’ podcast.

On the LRT podcast, J. Shy said that this time the album was created naturally, without a pre-conceived strict concept: “There are moments when you write an album with a clear idea, all the songs are connected by something, there is a sense of consistency. But sometimes it’s not like that. This time I put together what I managed to write over the year – one month was accompanied by one mood, another – a completely different one. Although in the end everything merges into one whole, there was no clear symbol.”

For this reason, the artist hesitated for a long time about the album title. The decision was made in the very last days, after writing the final song “Liepa,” which Jessica personally dedicated to her sister.

Talking about their relationship, the artist did not hide sensitive details. There is a 14-year age difference between the sisters, which, according to Jessica, made its mark.

“It’s a kind of tribute to her. If we speak very personally, our relationship was somewhat broken. When she was very little and just beginning to understand something, I moved to live in London. I returned after five years, she had already grown a lot, and I started my career. So we never created a beautiful, close bond, although she is still my sister,” the artist admitted.

Now Liepa is going through a difficult adolescence stage, which the older sister observes from the sidelines.

“I see what problems she faces, and I understand that I don’t know this person. This is my blood, but I missed such a big part of her life that I don’t know what she has become,” Jessica spoke sensitively on the LRT podcast.

The singer admitted that her teenage sister finds it hard to let her in, so this album became an expression of love and attention: “It was my gesture – to show that I think about her.”

It seems that the sisters are already trying to make up for lost time. As Jessica said on the LRT podcast, the younger Liepa, who celebrates her birthday on August 25, came to visit her in Vilnius.

Although the younger sister does not intend to follow the path of music, she definitely has an artistic vein.

“She draws wonderfully, paints very beautifully. She is strongly inclined towards art, just maybe not so much towards music,” the famous woman did not spare kind words for her sister on R. Zilnys’ podcast.
