“Writer Keigo Higashino died in the early morning of July 23 from colon cancer. He was 68 years old,” the Kodansha publishing house announced.
“We believe that his works will continue to captivate many readers. Please continue to enjoy Mr. Higashino’s novels,” it stated.
K. Higashino, who wrote books such as “The Devotion of Suspect X” and “Malice,” had a large fan base across Asia, including China.

The detective novel “The Devotion of Suspect X” has also been published in Lithuanian.
“Thank you very much. Your ‘Detective Galileo’ series was the first novel I ever bought. Thank you very much for giving me the best reading experience of my life,” one Japanese person wrote on the social network “X”.
Another wrote: “Seriously? Unbelievable, please, someone tell me it’s a lie.”
“My life as a book lover began when I picked up Mr. Higashino’s novel in my teens. His novels overwhelmed me, influenced me, and allowed me to experience a full range of emotions. All of this is my treasure,” a third added.
