“Ukrainska pravda” writes that O. Syrskis underwent a medical examination, during which he was declared fit for service, refused civilian duties, and enrolled in the doctoral program at the National Defense University, which belongs to the Defense Forces system.
“After being dismissed from his position, Syrskis underwent a scheduled medical examination, was declared fit for military service, and decided to remain in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (the National Defense University belongs to the Ukrainian Defense Forces system),” writes the publication “Hromadske,” citing a source from O. Syrskis’s circle.
According to information from the former chief commander’s circle, he “refused civilian duties” and plans to systematize and transfer the accumulated experience to Ukrainian and Western military officers.

Moreover, O. Syrskis is currently reportedly considering the topic of his future dissertation.
President O. Zelensky dismissed the very popular Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov in mid-July, and later O. Syrskis, explaining that he could not otherwise resolve their conflict, which was harming Ukraine’s defense. O. Syrskis was replaced by Mykhailo Drapat.
The previous Chief Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny, who was replaced by O. Syrskis, is the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom.
