Syrian state television reported that one person was injured during an “Israeli occupation army drone attack,” which targeted a vehicle in the village of Beit Jinn, located southwest of Damascus.

The Israeli army, contacted by the news agency AFP, reported that it is currently checking the received reports.

Since December 2024, when the country’s long-time leader Bashar al-Assad was overthrown, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria.

The country also deployed its army into the United Nations (UN) patrolled buffer zone, which for decades separated Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan Heights.

Israel also regularly conducts incursions deep into Syrian territory and has promised to maintain its forces in the so-called security zone in southern Syria, aiming to create a broader demilitarized area.

This week, Israeli army commander Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir told troops deployed in southern Syria: “We are monitoring changes on the Syrian front. We will not allow hostile forces to establish themselves near our borders.”
