Soon after, he spoke about his condition on his Instagram account. The 23-year-old admitted that he was diagnosed with “short, temporary episodes of loss of consciousness,” but reassured those concerned that this could mean the end of his career.
J.Musiala also revealed that such episodes are caused by a neurological disorder, but they are “easily treatable.”
On his Instagram account, he wrote: “First of all – I am fine! I want to reassure everyone and explain: I was diagnosed with short, temporary episodes of loss of consciousness, which are easily treatable and caused by a neurological disorder. This can cause moments like those that happened.
I know that at first glance they may seem frightening, but for me, this is just part of everyday life at the moment. In this regard, I am receiving the best possible medical care and I am very optimistic. Bayern and my closest people are always by my side and support me on this journey.
Most importantly, there is no additional health risk beyond this. In close consultation and constant communication with specialists, my personal desire was to take on this challenge and, with the approval of neurologists, continue doing what helps me recover the most: simply living my daily life and continuing to pursue my passion – playing football. I have taken responsibility for this decision.
Overall, I feel very good and am on the right path. What helps me the most is that together with the team and your incredible support, I continue to strive for victories and titles. Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund, Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s coach, revealed that the ailments were most likely caused by changes in J.Musiala’s treatment.

“I spoke with Jamal, he said: ‘No problem, you can say that,'” the Bayern strategist explained after receiving the player’s permission to talk about his health condition. “He slightly changed his treatment, and that caused some side effects.”
This version was confirmed and additional context was provided by sports director Max Eberl, who confirmed that the player changed medication, which caused some consequences.
“We knew about Jamal’s situation throughout last season,” admitted M.Eberl. The players knew about it too. It became part of our daily routine.
He changed something in his medication, which caused those incidents. We will give him all our support, as we have done so far and will continue to do.”
When asked if J.Musiala will remain a key Bayern player in the 2026–2027 season, V.Kompany expressed hope that the player will meet expectations.
“I am completely calm,” said the Bayern coach. “I expect many successful counterattacks from Jamal. I have a feeling he is ready to meet all expectations. As a coach, I know he has taken a huge step forward.”
J.Musiala was unable to play for six months from July 2025 to January 2026 due to injury, but it is expected that he will regain his best form this season.
