A soldier sent two such videos during the 12-day war with Iran last June and “was rewarded for them,” the military stated. It added that he also passed several videos filmed in civilian locations to an Iranian agent.
The material sent from civilian locations included a video found online of the mentioned soldier, showing a missile strike, the military said.
“Eventually, feeling pressure, the accused informed someone in his military unit that he had contact with a foreign agent,” the military stated.
“The next day he was detained by the (security service) Shin Bet,” it said, without specifying exactly when the detention occurred.
The soldier was contacted through his Telegram account, where he received messages, including job offers.
The messages also included an offer from the Iranian agent asking if he wanted to earn money “by performing photography-related tasks,” the military said.

Military prosecutors requested a seven-year prison sentence for the soldier, whose identity is undisclosed.
“The court took into account that the accused did not pass on military information or information obtained while performing military duties, that he himself terminated contact with the foreign agent, and that he immediately reported the contact to his superiors,” the military said.
“The court sentenced the accused to five years in prison, as well as a suspended sentence, a fine of 1,000 shekels (294 euros), and demoted him to the rank of private,” the statement said.
In June 2025, Israel attacked its main enemy Iran. The war lasted 12 days, during which Tehran also launched missiles at Israel.
Israel’s ally, the United States, became involved in the war in its final days.
The US and Israel struck Iran again on February 28, killing the country’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and starting a new war.
