“Fourteen officers have been detained. This is an unprecedented case. We are somewhat pleased that since December we have been detaining and dismantling smuggling networks. But the fact that officers topped it off is truly a painful and unacceptable incident,” the politician said to journalists on Friday during a visit to the Akmenė district municipality.

Last week, the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau detained 27 individuals, including 10 police officers, three border guards, and an official from the Šalčininkai district municipality. Most of those detained are residents of the Šalčininkai district.
