The Vilkyčiai track holds a special status in the Lithuanian autocross community. It hosts not only national but also top international level competitions, and the track itself is often regarded as the best in Lithuania. Its speed, width, quality surface, and infrastructure allow athletes to showcase the capabilities of their vehicles, while giving spectators the chance to watch high-speed battles.

In Vilkyčiai, the power of the car becomes especially important. The fast sections of the track allow the strongest vehicles to fully utilize what slower tracks do not always allow. At the same time, there are plenty of places where athletes can choose different trajectories and fight for positions.
Therefore, the large starting grids on September 13 promise a lot of direct competition. The most participants are currently registered in the “Super 2000” class – nine. Eight athletes are preparing to start in the “Super Cars” category, seven participants each in the 2000 and additional 2000 A classes, and six in the 3000 RWD.
One of the biggest highlights of the fifth stage awaits in the “Super Cars” class. For the first time, Kęstutis Krakys will start here – the 2019 Lithuanian buggy champion.
Until now, Kęstutis Krakys has raced buggies in autocross competitions, but in Vilkyčiai he will try a powerful bodied “Super Cars” vehicle for the first time. For his debut, he was entrusted with an “Audi TT” boasting more than 500 horsepower.
The car was provided to Kęstutis Krakys by his teammate, last year’s Lithuanian “Super Cars” champion Žilvinas Astrauskas from the “Ekroso” team.
“I have always dreamed of trying a real “Super Cars” vehicle, because before I only raced buggies in autocross. The buggy, of course, is my passion, but I have already finished that stage of my career. I want to try it and who knows, maybe I will return to autocross.

I already knew that while driving a buggy and I have no doubt that horsepower will also matter a lot here in the “Super Cars” category. It will be very fun because the competition in the class is really strong. I will be waiting for the support of all spectators,” said Kęstutis Krakys.

Kęstutis Krakys faces a very serious challenge. Eight athletes will gather in the “Super Cars” class in Vilkyčiai, including the main leaders of this season’s championship.
After four stages, Paulius Šniukas has 100 points, and Deividas Kusas – 98. The mere two-point difference means that the championship leader could change in Vilkyčiai. Donatas Stašiūnas is third with 78 points.
So Kęstutis Krakys’ debut will not take place in an empty or sparsely filled class, but among the fastest autocross athletes in the country, for whom the fifth stage could be very important in the fight for the season titles.
Even more cars will gather in the “Super 2000” class. The list of participants includes the championship leader Vytautas Laužikas, Gediminas Ašakėnas, Mindaugas Skiezgilas, Erikas Narbutas, Lukas Kildišius, Simas Gudavičius, Robertas Steniulis, and Laurynas Paulauskas.
Surprises can be expected from Erikas Narbutas here. Although he has not been actively racing this season, in the summer at the Latvian autocross championship stage in Bauska he reminded everyone of himself by taking first place among the fastest pilots from the neighboring country. The list was also supplemented by one of the favorites of this class, Modestas Banelis, who suffered a leg injury at the start of this season and will “return to the track” for the first time this year.
The organizers of the Vilkyčiai stage have also taken care of athletes who do not compete in the Lithuanian autocross championship this time. Alongside the main categories, additional 1600 A and 2000 A classes will be held for the Vilkyčiai Cup.
Fifty athletes, nine classes, intense Lithuanian championship battles, additional Vilkyčiai Cup standings, and the debut of the former Lithuanian buggy champion behind the wheel of a more than 500 HP “Audi TT” – the program of the September 13 competition promises a day full of action and intrigue.
