In its autumn game review, “The Guardian” highlighted nine titles – from an inventive puzzle game to major releases like “Marvel’s Wolverine,” “Call of Duty,” and “Grand Theft Auto VI.”

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword”

After a 20-year hiatus, Capcom is bringing back the action-adventure game series “Onimusha.” This time, players will travel to Edo-period Kyoto and fight against warriors and demons.

Players will control the skilled samurai Miyamoto Musashi, who must master a complex combat system. And there will be no shortage of blood: expect lightning-fast sword clashes, limb severing, and fountains of blood.

Released on September 4 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox.

“Screenbound”

The creators of “Screenbound” present the game as the first 5D platformer. The player simultaneously controls a three-dimensional world and a handheld console on the screen, which contains a two-dimensional mirrored world.

What the player does in one world affects the other – so solving puzzles requires constantly thinking in both dimensions.

“The Guardian” calls this game one of the most inventive puzzle games to appear in a long time.

Releases on September 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox.

“Marvel’s Wolverine”

The creators of the “Marvel’s Spider-Man” series return with a completely different hero – Wolverine.

There will be no open-world New York City that players knew from previous games by the developers. Instead, expect a journey through various locations around the world, where Logan will try to protect vulnerable mutants.

The game’s visuals are impressive, and the smooth combat system allows Wolverine to use his claws and healing powers.

Releases on September 15 for PS5.

“Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave”

The tactical role-playing game series “Fire Emblem” returns to the world players already know from the critically acclaimed “Fire Emblem: Three Houses.”

This time, the story takes place in the grand city of Dagsion. Hopeful competitors gather here to participate in a contest where the winner is promised one fulfilled wish.

Players can expect tactical battles, a well-crafted world, and complex character relationships.

Releases on September 17 for Switch 2.

“Silent Hill: Townfall”

The “Silent Hill” world moves to the east coast of Scotland. In this new gloomy horror story, players will embody Simon Ordell, who returns to a quiet port town but does not remember what disaster occurred there.

The town looks abandoned, but it soon becomes clear that Simon is not alone.

“The Guardian” highlights the bleak atmosphere of the new game and the environment of Scotland’s east coast.

Releases on September 24 for PC and PS5.

“Control Resonant”

The creators of “Control,” Remedy Entertainment, try to dispel the notion that game sequels are always just repeats of the first part in this installment.

“Control Resonant” will feature a new main character, supernatural powers, and more role-playing elements. Players will also return to a newly interpreted Manhattan, where a reality-distorting monster awaits them.

“The Guardian” notes that the developers are significantly changing the formula of the first game.

Releases on September 24 for PC, PS5, and Xbox.

“Ratatan”

Hiroyuki Kotani, one of the creators of “Patapon,” presents a new game that looks as strange and colorful as his previous works.

“Ratatan” is a rhythm-based action platformer where enemies are defeated with music. Players can cooperate and create devastating melodies together.

“The Guardian” suggests imagining “Dead Cells” merged with “PaRappa the Rapper” – a comparison that fairly accurately describes what to expect.

Releases on October 15 for PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4”

One of the world’s biggest shooter series returns with another “Modern Warfare” installment. This time, the action moves to Korea.

Players can expect a multitude of weapons, explosions, epic battles, and an online multiplayer mode. The mustached SAS Captain Price also returns in the new game.

“The Guardian” describes the game as another familiar series blend, featuring large-scale battles and militant rhetoric.

Releases on October 23 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox.

“Grand Theft Auto VI”

After a decade of development and several delays, one of the most anticipated games of all time returns.

Grand Theft Auto VI

In Rockstar’s “Grand Theft Auto VI,” players will follow the story of star-crossed criminals Jason Duval and Lucia Camino. They will face the criminal underworld of Vice City and its diverse characters.

“The Guardian” describes the game as a digital generation’s “Bonnie and Clyde” and highlights its vast, vibrant, and provocative world.

“Grand Theft Auto VI” releases on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox.

“There are No Ghosts at the Grand”

Chris David inherits a grand old hotel, but the inheritance is not as pleasant as it might seem at first glance.

By day, the player must repair the abandoned building, and by night – drive out unwanted ghosts.

As “The Guardian” writes, this charming game, like many old English buildings, is full of secrets and puzzles. Of course, there will also be family history mysteries.
