At the end of July, tens of thousands of migrants surged across the border from Morocco into Ceuta. Although most quickly returned, a few thousand remained and many of them are now sleeping under the open sky in the enclave’s beaches.
According to a Spanish government source in Ceuta, the tent camp at the port has showers and beds.
Ceuta officials believe that 13,000 migrants remain in the 18.5 square kilometer area. The central government says this number is lower.
