An unpleasant incident occurred right next to one of Australia’s most famous landmarks – the Sydney Opera House. Strong gusts of wind blew the glasses straight into the water, and it was no longer possible to retrieve them.

“These are the most expensive glasses I have ever had,” Vytautas said in the lifestyle show “Life is Beautiful,” interviewed right at the scene of the incident. “I bought them while I was still working in television, back then I could afford it, now I no longer work in television…”
Australia is more than 14 thousand kilometers away from Lithuania, and the time difference between Vilnius and Sydney, depending on the season, is as much as 8–9 hours. So Lithuanians here have to get used not only to a different climate but also to a completely different pace of life. However, it was in this city, famous for its impressive harbor, beaches, and an agglomeration of more than five million inhabitants, that V. Mikaitis decided to spend a few short but intense days.

Interestingly, the show’s host Edvardas Žičkus indirectly contributed to this spontaneous trip. When V. Mikaitis and his mother Sigute started exploring the possibility of visiting the farthest continent, E. Žičkus was already in Australia.
“I was already traveling around Australia when I received a message from Vyta with questions about how hard it is to get a visa, the best routes to fly, and so on. I shared the information friendly, but I really didn’t expect to get a message a week later that my friend and his mother had already arrived and we could meet. But that’s how people born with the traveler’s gene live – they don’t miss a single opportunity to travel the world,” Edvardas laughed.
Although the first day in Sydney started with losses, it did not spoil the traveler’s mood. Filming before dawn in the famous city bay, both well-known men discussed the Australian lifestyle, friendly locals, and what surprised them the most – prices much lower than expected.

“I easily found a hotel right in the city center for 150 euros per night,” V. Mikaitis admitted.
The traveler also talked about meeting Lithuanians living in Australia. These compatriots not only offered him a free tour to the impressive Blue Mountains but also invited him to explore Sydney’s nightlife together.
The founder of the non-existent travel agency “Pravalturas” was visiting Australia for the third time, so he had the opportunity to compare how the country has changed over more than a decade. The traveler did not hide that he noticed Australians exercising and promoting a healthy lifestyle from early morning until late evening in the most popular tourist spots: “Why do they have to do this in the central city streets? Can’t they exercise in the parks, of which there are plenty here?”
However, his opinion did not always coincide with that of his colleague E. Žičkus, who is currently preparing a special series of stories about Australia. What surprised V. Mikaitis about modern Sydney, what he liked most about this city, and why he would not want to live here?
All this and more – just released in the first part of an exclusive acquaintance with the continent farthest from Lithuania.
