In Russia, an avalanche claimed 11 climbers

An avalanche slid down the mountain slope in the Bezengi Pass on Sunday and buried a group of 33 climbers, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

“Unfortunately, 11 people died,” the ministry stated. Six more people were injured, ten climbers descended safely, and six remain missing.
