In May, Lithuanian airports set an all-time passenger record

Record-breaking passenger flows show that the summer aviation season is gaining momentum, and the new and continuously developed LTOU infrastructure successfully supports the growth rate. In May, Vilnius Airport served nearly 542 thousand, Kaunas Airport – 157 thousand, Palanga – 36 thousand passengers.

“May results confirm that Lithuanian airports maintain a strong growth trajectory and successfully welcome the busiest summer travel season. The record number of passengers reflects both growing travel demand and targeted work to expand flight offerings and strengthen partnerships with airlines. We consistently invest in airport infrastructure and operational efficiency to ensure a quality passenger experience and create conditions for further growth of Lithuania’s air connectivity,” says Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports.

The LTOU head notes a particularly sharp increase in passengers choosing regular flights – this is 14% higher compared to May last year. The number of regular flights also grew by about 10%.

The number of flights in Vilnius exceeded 4 thousand in May – a total of 4247 flights were served. In Kaunas, the number of flights served in May reached 1140, and in Palanga – 407.

In May, LTOU also marked new partner launches and an even wider route map: a new airline “Arkia Israeli Airlines” started operations at Vilnius Airport, “Wizz Air” offered flights to Gdansk, and “Airbaltic” opened the Vilnius-Zurich route. “Arkia Israeli Airlines” will fly passengers to Tel Aviv three times a week during the summer season.

Gdansk with “Wizz Air” will be accessible four times a week throughout the summer season. From Vilnius to Zurich, “Airbaltic” will fly twice a week and further improve Lithuania’s connectivity with Switzerland, as the “Swiss” airline operates seven flights per week in this direction during the summer season.
