“This year, the “Formos” festival invites to rethink classical literature and traditions through a completely new, contemporary form. Becoming part of the Lithuanian Capital of Culture program allowed for further expansion of the event’s geography. Kėdainiai awaits a concentrated, visual, and very dynamic weekend, where professional creators will explore the boundaries of human existence, history, and art,” says the event organizer, Kėdainiai Cultural Centre.

Saturday: From international comedy to foot painting
The festival opening will take place on June 6, Saturday, at 7:00 PM in the courtyard of the Mikalojus Daukša Public Library of Kėdainiai District Municipality. Here, the international troupe from Estonia, “Big Wolf Company,” will present the contemporary folk-comedy “Three Sisters.” The performance features aerial acrobatics, dance, and witty humor. Three talented performers will explore the strength of Nordic women, ancient marriage traditions, and the role of women in society through movement.
Immediately after, at 8:00 PM, the action will move to the square in front of Didžioji St. 11, where artist Adomas Stančikas will present a unique performance “Barefoot Sound.” While young students of Kėdainiai Music School improvise live, the creator will dance barefoot on canvas, directly creating a unique work of art – a painting – with movement and musical rhythm.

Sunday: Trampolines inspired by V. Krėvė and a musical mystery in the gymnasium
On June 7, Sunday, at 8:00 PM, in the courtyard of the Mikalojus Daukša Public Library, spectators will see one of the most anticipated parts of the program – the “Teatronas” theatre’s contemporary circus and theatre performance “Šarūnas,” inspired by the classic drama of Vincas Krėvė. In it, the creators combine national epic and contemporary stage arts, visualizing the hero’s internal conflicts and existential desires using an acrobatic trampoline.
At 9:00 PM, the festival in Kėdainiai Šviesioji Gymnasium will culminate with a magnificent musical recitation for 22 voices, “The Hunt for Love and Jesus,” performed by the Klaipėda Actors’ Choir. Born from the work of the renowned Baroque poet Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus, the piece debuted last year at the Palace of the Grand Dukes, and a chamber version will be shown in Kėdainiai. The work of the team – idea author Dalius Abaris, composer Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė, playwright Mindaugas Nastaravičius, and director Valentinas Masalskis – transforms the voice into an expressive weapon.
All events of the artistic action festival “Formos” are free and open to the public.
