During the coldest months of January and February, efforts will be made to additionally supply the market with up to 125 thousand cubic meters of biofuel by increasing the amount of forest logging residues, creating better conditions for cheaper biofuel imports from other EU countries, promoting long-term purchase agreements, and organizing targeted raw material auctions and other measures, the ministry reported.

“Our plan is concrete: more forest logging residues from Lithuanian forests, better conditions for cheaper imports from EU countries, and more fuel purchased before the cold. By increasing supply, we can reduce the risk of price spikes and pressure on residents’ heating bills,” said Minister Lukas Savickas in the statement.
