BBC highlighted 10 films worth watching this fall, and from them 15min selected five whose premieres are scheduled in Lithuanian cinemas.

“Onslaught” (“Šturmas”)
Michael Biehn is best known for his roles in classic sci-fi films “The Terminator” and “Aliens.” Now the actor appears in a film he himself compares precisely to these works.
Adria Arjona plays a single mother living in a desert trailer town with her daughter. Their peace is disturbed by three genetically modified super soldiers who escaped from a nearby secret research laboratory.
Soon it becomes clear that the main heroine has a military past – she was a sniper. So what initially seems like a simple family life in a remote area quickly turns into a bloody survival battle.
“Onslaught” was directed by Adam Wingard, who created the films “The Guest” and “Godzilla vs Kong,” and the movie was released by the film company A24.
Biehn called the film “Daily Dead” the best work of his since “Aliens” and promised a very fast mix of action, horror, and violence.
In Lithuania, “Onslaught” premieres on September 4.
“Practical Magic 2” (“Praktinė magija 2”)
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock return to the world of witches that viewers first saw in the 1998 film “Practical Magic.”
In the first film, the actresses played sisters Gillian and Sally Owens – both were witches. Although the film did not cause great excitement at the time of release, over nearly three decades it gained loyal fans and became a cult classic.
BBC reminds that fans especially loved the film’s atmosphere, Gillian’s red hair, Sally’s clothes, and the family’s Victorian house by the ocean.
Now, 28 years later, the story continues. Kidman and Bullock reprise their leading roles, joined by Joey King and Maisie Williams, who play Sally’s daughters.
The young women learn about a family curse: every man they fall in love with soon dies.
Like the first film, the sequel is based on the work of writer Alice Hoffman. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest also return to play the sisters’ aunts.
In Lithuania, “Practical Magic 2” premieres on September 11.
“Resident Evil” (“Absoliutus blogis”)
Zach Cregger’s “Weapons” was one of the best-rated films of 2025, so it is somewhat surprising that the director chose a video game adaptation for his next work. However, the screenwriter and director told “Empire” magazine that he created “a Zach Cregger film that just happens to be a ‘Resident Evil’ movie.”

This film looks much scarier than previous “Resident Evil” parts, most of which were directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. In the bloody rebooted story, the main character is medical courier Bryan (Austin Abrams), who must deliver a human organ to a hospital in Raccoon City – the main setting of the game. But something unusual is happening in the city: its residents are turning into bloodthirsty zombies.
“Bryan is a completely ordinary man who has to carry out this sacred mission that will lead him to the very heart of everything,” said Z. Cregger about the main character. According to him, it somewhat resembles Frodo’s journey to Mordor in “The Lord of the Rings.”
In Lithuania, “Resident Evil” premieres on September 18.
“Primetime” (“Didysis eteris”)
Robert Pattinson’s film year shows no signs of slowing down. This year the actor appears in several major projects, and “Primetime” awaits him with a drama based on true events.
The film tells about the controversial US television show “To Catch a Predator,” which from 2004 to 2007 conducted operations against men suspected of seeking to meet children for sexual purposes.
During the show, men were lured into traps and then met by journalist Chris Hansen.
Pattinson plays Hansen in the film. BBC notes that the actor is already mentioned among possible candidates for an Oscar nomination for this role.
However, the real Hansen has admitted that he would not have chosen Pattinson for this role. According to him, many years ago he wrote a script and imagined that actor Denis Leary could play it.
In Lithuania, “Primetime” premieres on September 25.
“Heart of the Beast” (“Žvėries širdis”)
Brad Pitt this time embarks not on a typical Hollywood adventure but into the harsh wilderness of Alaska. And he is not alone there – his companion is a loyal service dog Odin.
Pitt plays James Belmont, a veteran who served 30 years in the US Special Forces. After a plane crash, he remains stranded in a remote Alaskan landscape with his retired dog.
They must fight for survival and find their way back to civilization. The harsh nature becomes not only a physical challenge – survival depends on the special bond between man and dog.
BBC quotes the film’s director David Ayer, who says that B. Pitt showed a previously unseen vulnerability in this film. According to the director, the actor’s performance is very open, convincing, and deep.
However, the director admits that the audience’s attention might be stolen by the four-legged actor playing the dog Odin.

D. Ayer even reassures viewers about one thing: the dog survives.
