The 32-year-old Danish national forward joined the Turkish team from Milan’s Olimpia. He played there since 2020. Now the basketball player is turning a new page in his career.

Upon arriving in Istanbul, S. Shields gave an interview to the club’s television and expressed his happiness to join Fenerbahçe.
“The team has achieved great results in recent years, so I wanted to become part of this team,” the basketball player revealed one of his motivations. “After receiving calls from the coach and general manager, I made the decision quite easily, and the whole process went smoothly. My main motivation to come here was the desire to win and become part of the club’s culture of victories.”
During the conversation, the topic of the team’s coach Š. Jasikevičius was also touched upon. Having participated in the first training sessions led by the Lithuanian, S. Shields described it as a “great experience.”

“He demands a lot from both himself and his players. So far, we have only had a few initial training sessions. I think as the season and training progress, I will get to know him better and be able to learn more from him,” hoped the Fenerbahçe newcomer. “We see that the high standards and demands he sets for his players are reflected in the results of the teams he has previously coached. I hope that we will be able to continue that as well.”
Last season, Fenerbahçe fell in the EuroLeague Final Four semifinals.
Last EuroLeague season, S. Shields averaged 12.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
