Along the seaside dunes to the neighbor’s doorstep

The main events of the celebration on September 19, Saturday, will move to Šventoji, where active and community activities await. At 4:00 p.m., all active leisure enthusiasts are invited to the “Unity Hike,” organized by the Palanga Sports Center – registration is required at sportpalanga.lt. Hikers will travel along the seaside from the right bank of the Šventoji River estuary to the boundary marker marking the Lithuanian and Latvian border and back. The goal of this symbolic 6-kilometer route is to meet neighbors Latvians right at the border, so the organizers warmly invite communities from both countries and guests from Latvia to join the hike.

The fire of unity on the coast will unite the sounds of Lithuanian and Latvian folklore

The cultural program will culminate with the Baltic Unity fire lighting ceremony, which will take place at 6:00 p.m. on the right bank of the Šventoji River estuary by the seaside. Here, with the unity bonfire blazing, Baltic songs and melodies will be offered by the Palanga Cultural Center folklore ensemble “Mėguva” and guests from Latvia – the Rucava ethnographic ensemble and band. The festive space will be filled not only with traditional sounds but also with the bustle of children – wooden outdoor games will await the youngest visitors here. It will be a special evening, uniting the shared memory, sound, and vitality of traditions of both nations.
