“I said goodbye to the church at the age of 14. Although the backstory looked different. In the 80s, the Catholic Church was a weapon against the Soviet Union. Monsignor Sladkevičius, Cardinal Audrius Juozas Bačkis were sources of inspiration for a young person. My grandmother strongly pushed me, at 5 I took my first communion, at 7 I received the sacrament of confirmation. I sincerely believed I would become a priest. I was convinced of that. But as I grew up, I started asking questions. And with questions come answers.
And my spiritual Catholic path ended. I knew many bright priests. Perhaps the most memorable was A.A. Richard Repšys, who died saving a drowning person. Maybe I will speak too sensitively – he also saved me when I was drowning in my teenage years.
And yet – I do not believe in the church and I am angry. I have that right. My children are not baptized. They will decide for themselves if they need religion. My religion is Love. Love for my Wife, Son, Daughter, Homeland.
Belief in made-up bearded men in the sky is NOT BELIEF!!!
Sorry to all believers, because I respect your path – but God has never lived in Churches. The church is manipulation. speculation. a business model. One of the most successful business models existing for 2000 years, we should learn from that.
But the church is just business – nothing more. COSA NOSTRA.
BUT even COSA NOSTRA has moral principles that NO SOCIETY IN THE WORLD WILL CROSS. The church has become a legal refuge for perverts, child abusers.
CHECKMATE to the church.
P.S. Wash your sins, saints…”, wrote G. Kvietkauskas.
Žmonės.lt reminds that the pedophilia case has been handed over to the Vilnius District Court for trial.
Prosecutor Justas Laucius told journalists on Tuesday that the clergyman is accused of 34 intentional misdemeanors, serious and very serious crimes committed between 2002-2025 at the priest’s residences belonging to the Church.
These are 2 episodes of handling pornographic material depicting a child, 13 episodes of involving a child in drinking, 9 episodes of exploiting a child for pornography, 4 episodes of molesting a person under 16 years old, 3 episodes of satisfying sexual desire violating the minor’s sexual self-determination and inviolability for payment, 2 episodes of sexual assault on minors, and 1 episode of sexual assault on a minor.
11 people were recognized as victims in the case, who were 12-18 years old when the crimes were committed. They have filed civil claims.
The accused priest currently has preventive measures imposed – a written promise not to leave and confiscation of documents.
J. Laucius also reported that in June the case was handed over to the court, in which another priest of the Vilnius Archdiocese is accused of child pornography.
According to the archdiocese, this priest is also suspended from duties. A canonical investigation is underway, and the Holy See has been informed.
This priest, who is also not named, faces a somewhat shorter prison term – up to four years.
